Blythe Scott : On Location
We visit Blythe Scott on location in St Monans and in her Melrose studio as she prepares for her 2025 Solo Show. Blythe is a studio painter but spends a lot of time gathering material and information by sketching on location in some of her favourite places – the East Neuk of Fife, Edinburgh and the Borders. Here she explores St Monans – the quirky cottages, crumbling old harbour walls and creels – as she builds up her concertina sketchbooks ready to start painting.
Kate Bentley RSW
Kate’s explorative nature and unique imagination has created a truly striking collection of paintings which explore two main subjects – Edinburgh as a city and Kate’s love of gardens – her own, those of friends and the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh. The fusion of Kate’s intensely layered and experimental approach and her ability to work from memory have given us a breathtaking body of paintings, all bearing Kate’s distinctive use of texture, pattern and detail.

Stephen Mangan : In the Studio
Stephen creates another world through his paintings, one which is at once familiar and otherworldly. Through his carefully planned out compositions and his slow, meticulous approach to painting, he creates a world with arresting presence and stillness. His 2025 Solo Exhibition – Life Tones – is his first exhibition following a move to the East Lothian Countryside. In addition to Stephen’s theatre, cafe and beach scenes we see also paintings that reflect a quieter pace of life and an awareness of the seasons and the changing light.
Woof! The Dog Show
A celebration of dogs in art and in life, a theme that has of course been visited by many an artist in the past – Picasso, Hockney, Warhol, Freud, Munch, O’Keefe, Kahlo… the list could go on! We are delighted to have so many artists taking part – both familiar and new to the gallery. Enjoy this rather fun animation!
